South Putnam Animal Hospital

Hospital Policies

We've listed useful information regarding our policies here, including appointments and arrival, hospitalization, payment, and more. These policies are subject to change, but we always strive to provide you up-to-date instructions prior to your visit.

Appointment Policy

Patients are seen by appointment only unless there is an emergency situation. If your scheduled appointment is delayed due to an emergency situation, we ask for your understanding. We do everything we can to see all of our clients and their pets in a timely manner.

We are always eager to meet new clients and pets! If you are not a current client of ours, call us at 845-628-1834 to schedule your pet's first visit. You are welcome to complete a new client form prior to your pet's appointment. You can also fill out a new client form in-house, but we ask that you arrive a few minutes early to do so.

Patient Arrival Policy

For the safety of all clients, patients, and staff, pets must arrive to our facility properly restrained. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.

If your pet has an infectious condition such as kennel cough or parvovirus, please let us know so we can prevent the spread of disease to other pets in the waiting area. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats and exotic pets must be in a carrier.

Drop-Off Policy

Drop-off appointments are available upon request.

Surgical patients are admitted to the hospital between 8:30 - 9:00 am unless other arrangements are made prior to the day of surgery. Discharge times vary depending on your pet's surgical procedure. We ask that you give us a call after 3 pm on the day of your pet's surgery for specific discharge instructions.

Emergency Care

If our office is closed, call our normal phone # at 845-628-1834. You will be directed to our answering service, and advised which emergency location is closest to your home. We have several emergency clinics in our area that are prepared to handle a range of minor injuries and illnesses to life-threatening situations. If your pet is treated at an emergency clinic, the location will notify us that you were seen and we will receive all necessary information regarding your visit. Follow-up care will continue with us at South Putnam Animal Hospital.
